Personal Experience & Biography

Richard “Rick” Hollawell is a seasoned trial lawyer with a hard-earned reputation for combating fraud and abuse in the pharmaceutical industry. Rick has gained national recognition for being at the forefront in the battle against the irresponsible doctors and drug companies that have fueled the opioid epidemic.  Among his many litigation successes, Rick was one of the first non-governmental attorneys to successfully pursue misconduct claims against one of the nation’s largest distributors of fentanyl which resulted in the overdose deaths of numerous victims.

Rick is also very well acquainted with the tactics employed by insurance companies. Prior to becoming an attorney, he was a claims adjuster for two of the largest insurance companies in the country. Rick was responsible for investigating, negotiating, and settling claims brought against the companies’ policyholders. The skills that Rick acquired in the insurance industry have enabled him to achieve exemplary results for his clients in a broad range of complex civil litigation matters.

Rick received his bachelor’s degree from Fordham University where he was the captain of the football team and a two-time All American. Rick’s hard work and competitive spirit earned him the Fordham University Presidential Scholarship‚ and the Vince Lombardi Memorial Award for Leadership and Athletic Achievement.

Rick earned his law degree from Widener University Delaware Law School in 2001 and is licensed to practice in New Jersey‚ Pennsylvania‚ and New York. He resides in Southern New Jersey with his wife, daughter and son. Rick enjoys spending time at the beaches of Cape May and traveling with his family.
